Work Experience
2020 – present Tutor of English Language and English Literature | from 11+ to undergraduate level.
Since September 2020, he has been tutoring English Language and Literature full-time at all levels, particularly GCSE English for all exam boards. He can tutor from 11+ all the way up to International Baccalaureate and A-Level. Much of my tutoring has been for children who have struggled at school after the challenges of the past year. Whenever he tutors a student, his aim is to make lessons interactive and fun: learning is as much about enjoyment as it is academic achievement. His job as a tutor is to
encourage students to explore their intellectual curiosity in each and every lesson.
He can also tutor English Literature undergraduates at an elite level, including those students looking to apply for English at competitive universities, such as Oxford and Cambridge. Having assisted students with interview preparation and admission assessments in the past, he know that there is a considerable step upwards from a good A-level or IB student to a successful applicant at these universities. His role,
in such situations, is to encourage the student to take that next step, developing their style, interest, and confidence in English as a rigorous discipline.

TESTIMONIALS
Mother of a boy who is currently completing his English Language and Literature GCSE (year 10):
“Sam has been tutoring my son Ryan in English Language and English Literature since September 2020 after he had stopped attending school due to severe anxiety and panic attacks.
“Sam was very thorough with his research as to what he would need to teach my son in line with his old school’s curriculum to bring him up to date should he become well enough to return to school, preparing him for his GCSEs to be taken in 2022.
“Sam has got a very mature approach to teaching. His lessons are always planned out very well with adequate homework and realistic goals as well as regular feedback on my son’s progress. He is 100% reliable with regard to commitment and punctuality and always adheres to the agreed timetable. He engages well with my son in a very friendly, respectful, and professional manner and has won his trust quickly, so that Ryan is always working hard as to not let his tutor down."
“I would happily recommend Sam to any parent to tutor their child in English.”
Cancellation Policy
Our standard cancellation policy is that cancellations within 24 hrs may still be charged at the full rate. It is at the discretion of the tutor, and the circumstances are taken into consideration. We tend to advise tutors to give the benefit of the doubt to the client in the first instance, and politely remind them, then they are fully in their right to charge for repeat offenses, but they must notify the client they will do so so it isn't a surprise bill.
